Firstly how does a ceramic coating work?
A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer primarily made of silicon dioxide. During the curing process, the liquid evaporates and the ceramic coating chemically bonds to your cars clear coat.
Instead of sitting on the surface, a ceramic coating forms a semi permanent layer of protection essentially merging with the existing clear coat finish.

PROTECTION FROM UV RAYS
UV radiation accelerate the oxidation process. This can cause your car to have a rough texture, eventually leading to cracking and peeling of the clear coat leaving the base layer of paint exposed to the elements. When oxidation completely destroys the clear coat and paintwork on a metal panel, rust begins to form.
Ceramic coatings act as a barrier preventing UV radiation from reaching your cars clear coat, therefore protecting the paintwork from fading and discolouration over time.
HYDROPHOBIC LAYER
The ceramic coating forms a hydrophobic layer, shielding your car from the elements of the British weather. It won’t be as easy for dirt, mud and road salt to cling to your vehicles paintwork. When it rains and water droplets fall on your car, they will remain in their bead like shape and begin to roll off the car, often removing dirt and contaminants with them, creating a “self-cleaning” effect. To ensure maximum adhesion of the ceramic coating to your vehicles clear coat, it is advised your vehicle undergoes a liquid de-contamination, followed by the use of clay to throughly remove all contaminants. Followed by machine polishing to lock in a flawless finish.
